Student
Learning Experiences

Involving the community and collaborating with its members, including students, are cornerstones of our efforts to improve the health of the community and ultimately the health of each person.

Students, undergraduate and graduate, from a variety of disciplines (nursing, medicine, social work, psychology, sociology, education, business, and others) are provided with intergenerational and community service-learning opportunities at the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center (MWC).

Students complete Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement and Ph.D. research projects and immerse in clinical experience in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program and other courses such as undergraduate research projects at our MWC. We also accommodate international student visitors to our site and virtually.

We involve students in our services and programs such as observing, listening, and learning to facilitate family caregiver support groups, memory and psychiatric evaluations, Adult Day Care program activities, and researching important topics.

Please contact Dr. María Ortega at ortegam@health.fau.edu as to course, research, or site visit questions or additional information.
